For a Training School.
The Leonard Hospital is to have a training school for nurses as soon as the preliminary arrangements can be made. Miss Landers, the Superintendent, will be in charge of the school, and she will be assisted by Miss Uline. This fact was announced at the meeting of the Board of Managers this morning. It was decided to present an entertainment for the benefit of the hospital Friday, May 19, at the Cohoes Opera House. S. Grahame Nobbes of the Emma Willard Conservatory of Music is arranging the affair. The excellent program will include selections by the Madrigal Singing Society, the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Glee Club and a dramatic sketch by Mr. and Mrs. William H. Breese, jr., and John M. Francis. Mrs. Spencer last month assumed the position of housekeeper in place of Miss Perry, who resigned. Miss Thompson, one of the nurses, has gone to take a special course in surgery. More operations were performed last month than in any previous month in the history of the institution. Miss Van Schoonhoven presided and Miss Helena Ida reported as Secretary. The financial statement was made by Mrs. William Bolton.Troy Times. May 2, 1911: 5 col 4. (Last Edition.)
