The local directory first showed William A. Harder living at 65 Second Avenue, Lansingburgh in 1876, prior to which he was at 57 Second Avenue. Subsequent to the death of his eldest son William J. Harder on April 3, 1895, he made Rebecca Phillip—his friend, tenant, and forewoman at his Aetna Mill—one of his heirs and his sole executor.

—Miss Rebecca Phillip of 65 Second Avenue died yesterday. She had been a resident of Troy for nearly her entire life and had been an active member of the Christian Science Church for many years.
